New Multiplayer?

Since the most recent update, I've wanted to play BG:EE with a friend. I got it for one of my friends today but we can't connect. I'm not sure if there is something I need to do to be able to play multiplayer but neither of us can see the others game in the multiplayer list. I've tried port forwarding the ports that I could look up and that didn't work.
Is it because he doesn't have Siege of Dragonspear and I do? I try to make a multiplayer game in just Baldur's Gate (switching from SoD) and that didn't work either. Are there new protocols or something?

    @maxtriarch1 I have been having this problem. I believe it is caused because one player has SoD, and one doesn't. My friend has PC and I have Android, but we are trying to fix it by using TCP/IP protocol... I will update this when our little "experiment" is complete.
