Exporting character from black pits

So I exported a char file from a black pits save game and imported it for a bg1 play through except the import file maintained it's attained level. Is that supposed to happen? does it matter that the char name had numbers in it? I'd id rather not spend a while rerolling a character >.>

    And it's not a graphical issue I can cast spells as though I was the level I had achieved in the black pits savegame

    I believe when you export a character from the Black Pits, it's just like exporting from the actual game, so you do keep your level and all of your stuff. That's what happened when I did it.

    I don't know of any way to knock a character back down to level 1, though there might be a mod for that.

    Black Pits characters aren't really intended for use in the main campaign. So you may use them but you may encounter other issues like this.
