Where do you leave excess stuff until you can get a Bag of Holding?

I've read that a most excellent "Bag of Holding" isn't available until chapter 4. So I'm curious what you do in the meantime with excess stuff left over in your packs after finishing each side quest. You know... the stuff you haul around for the whole game "just in case" you need it again, because let's face it, very occasionally you do.

Do you sell it all to the same person so you know where to find it again? Stash it in a particular chest or room somewhere? Any other forehead-slapping obvious suggestions I've missed instead of hauling around unnecessary crap and traipsing back to the Adventurers Mart too often to free up slots?

If you don't mind the walk you can use the first area in Watcher's Keep, as you can leave stuff there and go get it during ToB, too.

The game really doesn't have this problem: either the excess stuff is of so low value that it isn't worth picking up in the first place, or then you can easily go somewhere and sell it.

I suppose you're playing solo, then? I can see how this could be a bit of a problem in that case. But otherwise, no. I've personally never had it.

Consoling the bag in would be blatant cheating and an absolute no-no, in my book.

I'm playing on an iPad. Where is the console?

I just console in a bag as soon as I start to run into inventory management delays. I don't view it as a big deal. YMMV.

I do this too. The first time I played through I didn't, but the inventory was the single most frustrating thing to deal with, especially with ammunition.

Hmm, that might be a problem for you then, the console isn't available there. Sorry about that. If you could upload a save game file by posting it here using the attach button (zip it up into a single file first), maybe someone here could edit a bag in for you? Best to use bag31, it is empty.

You shouldn't really run into inventory problems until later in the game - just collect yourself a scroll case and gem bag (all available very early on) and then once you do 1-2 quests in Ath... to start just pop on over to watcher's keep and pick yourself up the potion bag. That should mean you don't have *any* trouble with inventory for quite some time. Once you get your characters special stronghold I always enjoyed filling it with junk just for fun - particularly if you're a fighter - so many containers to put stuff in! lol.

The @Clumsy_Dwarf suggestion is good. Also, I would leave items in my stronghold, if i have one. It has a nice rp feel. Otherwise, i imagine you can leave them in just about any container that you find convenient to access.

I haven't tried this, but you should be able to sell your items to a merchant that you can just steal from later. Well, I have sold by accident and then stolen back later, but not for this purpose. A benefit of doing this is that you will probably not go back to steal your old loot anyway, so might as well sell it. Helps if being a pack rat becomes an issue to you. You will only be able to pull this trick once for most merchants, since most don't buy stolen goods.

I use a cupboard in Adventurer's Mart (on the RH wall, level with the sales counter).

for me, EVERY SINGLE ITEM I find in SoA that I don't need I sell to Deidre ( behind ribald in the adventurer's mart) and that barrel that is beside her that is the one that I use to store all my goodies, its convenient because everything is in the same place at once, and plus those 2 are the most common merchants to buy stuff from

Great suggestions, thanks everyone. I'm going the Hexxat route, just off to pick her up. Anyone who has done this, how long do you keep her around, and who do you replace in your party with her? I'm temporarily ditching Yoshimo, since Hexxat has similar albeit lower thieving abilities. (My party is Abdel, Minsc, Anomen, Yoshimo, Jaheria, Nalia).

I kept her for roughly as long as it took to transfer the bag to my inventory.

I then repeatedly tried to remove the *bed* from the bag. Ended up with an inventory full of unmovable *beds*.

A bug? Or Just Desserts for stealing from a thief?

A bug involving Hexxat? Nay, you must be mistaken. There is no such thing at any point in the game
