in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
So, in the older version of not enhanced edition of the game, you can accumulate certain stat bonus by dropping the tear while the bonus is being applied.

Is it still possible in extended edition?

    I did not test that again post 2.0 but it definitely was possible with 1.3.
