(Spoiler Request) Do Romances reach their peak before the Siege ? Are there romance conflicts?

Hi there

I'm asking it because I was thinking of having Viconia and Safana in my party. As far as I've heard Viconia's isn't really a romance, and Safana's brings chaotic consequences . So my questions are:

-Can I have continuous dialogues with both? Are there romance conflicts, even though Viconia isn't really dating you?

-I was thinking of doing the final part (The actual siege of dragonspear) without Safana or Voghlin (and replace with Minsc and Dynaheir) , but I don't want to miss the climax of the romance. Is there a timing related to these events?

Thanks a lot!

There aren't any actual conflicts, but for most of the romances you'll come to a point where the character asks you if you're interested in someone in the party. If you say someone else's name, it kills the romance for the person you're currently talking to, whereas if you say their name, it'll kill every romance except for that one. The exceptions, I believe, are Neera and Glint where no such dialogue will occur, but if you remain interested in them for several dialogues, it'll go to the next stage and auto-kill every other romance.

As far as I can tell, booting a party member does not kill the romance, and even a romanced party member not in the party will show up in the ending sequence... but I haven't tested this so I could be wrong.

For what i know, when you get to siege dragonspear, the romance with Safana is already done, she asks you for some gems, for a poem, a lousy kiss, then she drops you and goes back to Voghlin, then goes back to Coran. And she wont visit you in jail. If you pick for Viconia, she will visit you in jail but as said it's not really a romance still.

I'm just looking at the dialog files but it looks like it's possible to avoid Safana dumping the PC (besides killing Voghiln). When she asks for a poem, don't ask Voghiln to write you one. In the next convo you'll make up your own, then don't ask her for a kiss, which won't turn on the script that starts the 'breaking' dialogue. It might be intentional or a missing script, I don't know.

Yes i guess that's right, but it's probably going to finish like this.

Ah. I won't tell you how clothed she was when I found her with that elf in the mask, then.

Thanks a lot for your answers , guys!

I'm still in chapter 3 of BG1 , so I guess I'll be playing SoD again by the next week or so, but I think it's worth trying to date Safana!

I think every romance is worthly to play, but then you give up those you think are totally pointless. Just a little spoiler, i did start BG1 with Safana, so she wants to have good stats in SoD, but anyway she wont be in BG2, and Imoen wont be in SoD and not that much in BG2 too, they made it hard the choice between thieves. Name me one who is there from BG1 to BG2 and wont leave you at all :)

Hey @LoveViconia , actually my current playthrough involves romancing dynaheir in bg1, kinda breaking up with her in sod( and romancing safana), and ending up with viconia in bg2. (As in real life, he might have a few disappointments before meeting the one! ).

they really need to make a dynahier sod romance at some point i mean they already blocked the epilogue in the new version of bg 1 npc project.

I think Corwin who is the NPC who is supposed to guide you along the game, she is always usefull and regardless she is in your party she often takes sides and involes herself, should change genger if CHARNAME is a male then she should be a female or if CHARNAME is a female then he should be a male. Female players all they get is a drunken romance from these npcs they added.

First one i didn't play it so much, his mission didn't work,
romance is for both males and females if i'm not wrong and will conflict.
    The second one
    is homo, romances only males
and has a mission that should end at the warren, i guess. He will conflicts too. Ok.

I remember Glint treating me really nice, but I didn't realise that it was a romance talk ... he ain't my type, though!

You've still got Rasaad! (If my protagonist were female I'd surely date him!)
