Will the original Baldur's Gate 2 run on any windows 98 pc?

Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong place, I'm new. I wanted to buy a windows 98 pc to play the original Baldur's gate 2 on and other classics. I looked up what the best pc in the year 2000 was. It named the best processor as a Pentium 3 and the best graphics card a tnt2. But I've found a windows 98 pc with a better processor and graphics card than those. It's a dumb question but I want to be safe so I don't regret spending my money, but will the game still work at its absolute best if I use a better processor and a better graphics card than those mentioned?

It should run just fine. You could also pick up the original BG2 on GOG.com unless you really wanna play it on windows 98.

The problem with gog is that they make you install the throne of baal expansion. I don't know why but they do. I want to play the original without any of the things added with the expansion.

Ah okay. Yeah, I remember playing BG2 on 98 back in the day. It is very buggy un patched though.

Yep, should install Baldurdash plus other stuff. Maybe Dudleyville is still good for this.

    GOG published system requirements
    • Windows XP or Vista
    • 1 GHz Processor (1.4 GHz recommended)
    • 256 MB RAM (512 MB recommended)
    • 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX7 (DirectX9 recommended)
    I don't know if Windows 98 supports DirectX7.

If possible go at least for a XP system. Windows 98 is most insecure when connected to the internet.

If the op wants to play original no expansion BG2, they probably need to do so with the original discs. No internet required.
