Having some bizarre sound problems with the EE games

so on my sound card I have a software program that makes it so I can change the pitch of the sounds on my PC, so I can make them high pitched like a chipmunk or low pitched as if they were a giant, but for some bizarre reason, the EE games can completely by pass my pitch shifter as if by magic, and I originally thought it was a steam problem, but it works just fine with Doom, and even if I go and use the old beamdog version, same problem,

so what bizarre whacky sound nonsense are the EE games using so I can change their pitches? its as if almost the EE game sounds are just coming out of the ether and not from my sound card
