What does the Beamdog update do?

I was on the Beamdog site and it mentioned an update to BG2EE. What does this do? I have several games waiting to be played (except for that stupid crap that won't let me actually press buttons anymore), will those be erased? Will this update destroy all of the mods in place?

    It will update to the latest version. Your current game files (not the saved games) in the folders they are in will be overwritten. I believe it will overwrite the mods, although I have read the results can be unpredictable if the override folder is left behind. You can copy the current game file folder along with the mods with another folder. Open the BeamDog client and right click on the game and choose Open Game location. You can copy those "00xxx" folders to another location and run the game from there. In your case I would suggest copy them somewhere else, then delete the current game folder along with the "xxx".beam and "xxx".status files, then restart the BeamDog and reinstall the game cleanly.
