Need help with modding

ThornumThornum Member Posts: 3
Hey guys,

I've been getting back into BG2 by playing the BG2EE steam version. Now, I've tried installing mods a couple times, but every time somewhere along the process any mod I've tried returned errors in the installation process. I get the cmd-like window and can pick options just fine, it's just that at some point it starts giving errors and at the end it tells me the mod is not installed. What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I haven't been able to find a single place that eases players into modding their BG2EE, on top of the fact that there are about 4(?) sites that have a modding community next to eachother.

I might be posting this in the wrong place, I might have missed 'simple to find' information, but please enlighten me. I've gotten interested in all the work people have put into these mods, and it'd be a shame if I'd miss out on it all due to lack of information.

Thanks in advance!

This isn't really precise, all I know is that you're not managing to install as many mods as you want, can you provide your weidu.log ?

Also, which mod(s) are you installing, and where did you download them from? Mods need to be made EE compatible to run on BGIIEE.

Can you upload any debug files? That might really help

I realise it's not really precise, as I have little clue how to be precise. To indicate: is modding BG2EE a matter of running a .exe? Confirming this would already be more information than any introductory piece I have found.

So far I have tried to run three mods: Big Picture (with the aim to install Ascension mainly), Unfinished Business, and Stratagems (SCS). I have provided the weidu log for BP below (which raises the question: what is "weidu"). I cannot find a comparable file after running the Stratagems installer. Right now I have no leftovers from the Unfinished Business one as I clean installed it after the errors.

For BP: as far as I can tell a range of components installed fine. At the same time, a number of them gave errors during installation and would refuse to continue unless I entered "N" (the Trolls modification comes to mind).
For Stratagems: it errors completely at the end, telling me "not installed due to ERRORS Initialise mod (all other components require this)"

Thanks for the responses guys! Pretty great to see this by now ancient game having such a lively community. The reason I tried these mods is because they gave me the impression to be a quick catch-all improvement for a large part of the game. Guess I thought too easy of it... my bad.

One last question: is there a way to undo/uninstall anything I tried to change with mod packs other than doing a clean install? So far I've reinstalled the game a couple of times, which, as far as I'm aware with steam, means redownloading the thing every time I uninstalled it. This is a lengthy process if to be done every time something goes wrong.
