Spoiler arundel question

in Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
When you first meet arundel, is it he or the demon ? Not clear enough for me.

    im pretty sure it is the actual him, because if you go upstairs the first time you meet him, nothing is up there, and plus the actual Arundel knows of you, so im going to assume he knows who you are based on all the help you did with the vale of shadows and what not
