SCS II gave me a five star challenge when all I wanted was a three star challenge.

I played it many years ago. from what I remember, fights were won be whichever group was quicker at debuffing and disable the other group, and I was often too slow. It got frustrating, and I gave up before leaving athkatla. Also, I was probably quite bad at the game, which meaning my impressions might not be accurate.
Several years later, I've found out about some really fun looking mods like rogue rebalancing, tome and blood, might and guile, refinement etc. mods that overhaul the game significantly. Whether SCS is compatible with these mods I don't know, but that is another discussion, and I don't know how I'd be able to beat something like it with the standard HLAs and dual class combinations that power gamers love replaced or removed by mods.
So, I want something that makes the game smarter than the rather dull witted BGII I played in 2010, but not SCS or anything smarter than me.
