blade is easier to level from level 1 if you want to start from the beginning. In the end it has an amazing selection of HLAs.

The from SoD interquel to the middle of SoA the differences between the two are a lot less.

The blade can't progress far enough to become the groups main arcane caster, but it compensates with scrolls, and the kensage never dispels as good as the blade can.

the blade is great in ToB for fighter heavy parties... the kensage doesn't need fighters, cause he has time stop.

My opinion: multi class F/M > Blade > K/M.

The fighter/Mage has multi class HLAs the most balanced leveling being strong at all levels, the blade has UAI, traps and spins to keep them relevant. The K/M is slow to get going unless you start from BG2 and has a mediocre high level game.

I've always liked how the blade is great at dispelling everything from the instant it gets level 3 spells. Then can enhance everyone else with epic bard song, and set traps. The game has so many great fighters and mages that the kensage and f/m feel slightly redundant.
