Nalia, because we're both stuck up do-gooders who mature eventually.
I just wish she wouldn't say, 'How are we helping the less fortunate trudging around in here?'... in the slaver's guild! X(
Xan is a very very close second. I wish the man was in BG2.
TBH, be grateful he wasn't in bg2, since all the bg1 npcs that make a cameo in bg2 (if they arent a party member in bg2 as well) typically meet a fairly unhappy end.
Also, his brother makes a cameo in IWD (albiet a dead cameo)
I never use nalia because she is a single thief level away from being sufficiently capable of disarming traps and opening locks. I just can't stand why they put such terrible dual class into the game.

There's a mod for that, you know.
I couldn't stand it due to the terrible voice acting. Seriously, *I* have a better impression of Xan, and I'm not a professional or anything...
I actually liked the BG2 voice. Yeah it didn't sound like BG1 Xan, but several of the other BG1 characters put into BG2 didn't sound like they used to either. I think it was a really fitting voice for him. Maybe not the one we're used to, but fitting nonetheless.
Edwin, hands down. Not only for his extra spell-slot, neither for his personality, but for his lines! "Edwin do this, Edwin do that... someone gives this jerk a banana!". Gotta love him.
Jan tells funny stories. He reminds me of Wallace Shawn, my favorite character actor. He likes Boo, he hilariously tries to talk Minsc into giving him Boo, and he puts Anomen in his place.
With his special goggles and an investment of only 10 skill points, he gets 100 percent detect illusions, which amounts to unlimited castings of True Sight on demand for the whole game. He stuns lots of enemies with Flashers.
He's a really good thief, and a decent back-up mage, and he can wear his special leather armor and still cast spells.
He makes delicious turnip stew for the party every night.

Erevain Blacksheaf is his cousin, not his brother.
