A Target() action?

It would be very helpful to have a script action that does nothing but put a creature into LastTargetedBy(Myself) for later use. It would be a link between passive references like LastHeardBy(Myself) or LastSeenBy(Myself) that only last for one script run and next runs. For example, a thief could go around a corner and emerge into a crowd of creatures to stab unerringly at one it heard or saw some time before.
