Are there anyway to recover the savefiles for the game?

    depends. Did you enable cloud save? steam's save cloud? Microsoft's onedrive?

    I dont know how to do that i thought steam did such by itself. :-(
    I run Ubuntu. :-)

    Then you're most likely outta luck. cloud features are by default deactivated ( at least for me, under Windows)

    Well it seems like the box for Cloud syncronisation is ticked?
