watchers keep level 5 trials - stairs don`t work

in Troubleshooting
anyone else run into this problem - i talked to helmite ghost and tried to go down all 3 stairs and characters just stand around after clicking on stairs icon. am i missing something? tried to save and reload still nothing do i need to complete something else first? seems like same issue as door in bridge district inn that was a pain to enter but eventually got in

    Once you've talked to the Helmite Ghost, you should immediately be able to go down all three stairs for the Ghost's tests, so it sounds like you've hit some sort of glitch. I've not heard of anyone else having this problem, so it's not a general bug.

    Try re-loading to a save at the end of the floor above, and re-do the fifth level from scratch.

    Edit: hang on, one other thing - I think for each of those tests, there a door which needs opening in front of each of the three stairs. You have opened the doors, yes?

    yes doors opened fine i will try reload from level above and keep fingers crossed
