Preferred Weapon Proficiency for Archers

Considering the weapons available, is there a clearly superior weapon class for an archery specialist in IWD? I recall there being rapid-fire crossbows available, which would appear to nullify the bow advantage.

    crossbows almost always have horrid speed factors, so regardless of APR your character will usually stand still and do nothing if you're being kited around

    just make sure your crossbow archer has no reason to move around and it should work yes

    I hadn't thought of the speed factor mechanic. How does that work with a crossbow that has two or three attacks per round, along with bonuses for weapon proficiency? Does the crossbowman wait until later in the round and then shoot a salvo of bolts all at once?

    well speed factor isn't so bad once you reach 3+ APR but anything lower is really clunky

    then again I'm more into solo runs so I guess my advice isn't really valid :smile:
