Got 2nd Boots of Speed *AND* +2 Shortbow, but am I safe?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
I zoned into the first zone you meet Marek and Lothander and hit them with a wand of fireball immediately. They went hostile before they spoke to me and I was able to kill them for the boots of speed AND the +2 shortbow.

Am I poisoned and destined to die? :)

    nope! that's actually a pretty good finisher to that quest (before it even begins). The poison only triggers if Lothander speaks to you at the Circus Fair in central BG

    though obviously any new player wouldn't know this.

    Yep. You are safe. I hate that question. Insta killed them myself and beat the game just fine.

    "Is it safe?" would not be a question you wanted to hear from your dentist (if you've see the movie Marathon Man). :anguished:
