Importing BG mod items into BG II

I'd like to bring some items from Dark Horizons and Dark Side of the Sword Coast into BG II, but just grabbing the .ITM file and dumping it into the override folder in BG II leaves me with no item description, just a bit of dialogue from some random part of the game. I also had this problem when I installed Siege of Dragonspear, all the item descriptions were replaced. Is there any way of fixing this?

It does seem that the items still function otherwise as intended.
