Why does Torment use Baldur's Save Game Data?

Saving a game and reviewing the files show that it does not follow the original Torment naming, rather it uses the Baldur's Gate naming instead.

BALDUR.bmp

Thought this was curious for save game names in Torment.

    The same is true for IWD:EE as well.

    Oh? Never noticed it there. Alright, just an odd thing I happened to notice. If that's how it is, then that is how it is.

    I rhought it was a homage to predecessor :)

    It's because all the EEs use a new version of the engine based on the original BG2's engine. They probably judged that changing the naming convention of those files was not worth the time and effort.
