Leveling up one level at a time

Hello folks.
I have been playing a lot of BG over the years and just recently I've run into a problem that I can't seem to be able to google a "fix" for.
As the title says, I'm trying to level up one level at a time instead of two. This is only a problem for me in The Black Pits where you gain enough exp to advance two levels at once.
Is there a way to level up one level at a time since I want to dual my fighter into another class at level 13 and at the current time I get enough exp to level from 10 to 12 and then from 12 to 14 which is a no go for me.

This will not help you on the rare occasion that you have matching exp levels in a multi-class, however.
