Graphical issues on winged characters

Just wondering if you think this is fixable, I enjoy the roleplaying possibilities the wings can offer (yeah, you guessed it, that's why my username is "HalfCelestial"), although it bugs me how unsightly it can be to use a shield, a weapon in your off-hand or a bow while wearing the wings:
