Attacked when enter Nashkel

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
The first time i entered Nashkel i had a low rep and was attacked. I left and have increased my rep to 10 but every time i try to enter i get attacked and if i kill the guards my party deserts me. Is there any way around this.

    You could just avoid the guards - their patrol pattern is predictable up and down the high street. Alternatively, if you really can't stand having hostile things, you could charm them (using Algernon's cloak if you don't have a mage or druid) and get them to kill each other (no rep loss if the charmed guards are killed by the hostile ones).

    Cheers for the reply. I used sneak and picked up Minsc and a few quests and got out of there.
