Rasaad's Heretic Temple Quests - Some questions about the Trials and what follows [Spoilers]

Being unable to find any article containing sufficient information on Rasaad's quest (the Baldur's Gate Wiki has nothing to say on that!), I seek the help of my fellow Forumites in finding the solution of some problems I've faced doing it:

1. What are the particular dialog options to stop Rasaad from joining the Heretic cult as its leader, after the Sharran invasion is repelled? He's after all a good guy, and though I'd not be having him in my party permanently, I'd rather want him to return to the Selunites, and help rebuild their order instead of the heretics'.
2. Is there a neat way to pass the trial of Pain (NE room), without having to get beaten more than a dozen times and continue to pretend allegiance to the false faith? [ I'd used Stoneskins, but still got beaten about 5 or 6 times , after those four monks punched through all of them.] I would also be grateful if you share your experiences and strategies in facing the other trials as well.
3. Is Gorion's Ward the only one who must face these trials? I thought as the quest was Rasaad's, he should have been doing it rather.
4. Does the Gauntlets of Aln Zekk give the cold damage with other weapons than fists? [I ask because it is not explicitly stated otherwise.] Also does the paralyze effect of the Beholder Helmet apply to any creature not magically resistant (such as Undead like Vampires)?
5. Lastly, what do you think are the philosophical implications of the four trials? I've not been able to fully comprehend everything, but I'm sure much of it was satiric ( like killing "The Truth" in the Room of the Bright Moon). I also remember Rasaad speaking of a "philosophical trap". Anyways, help and insight is much appreciated.

The quest was really enjoyable, and somewhat enlightening as well. The Developers have really done a great job.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
