XP in BGIIEE

Hi!
How did the devs balance BGIIEE as the main character starts with approx 450' XP and the NPCs with 250' XP?
More/harder monsters in the dungeons? (I haven't played BGIIEE since SOD came out, I only had an ongoing game in TOB).

They didn't do any rebalancing. 500K exp doesn't change a whole lot though. Its what, 1 or 2 levels? A lot the enemy spawns scale with level so not much change there. The only real difference is that a couple of the earliest quests will be a bit easier. Like the circus tent or slavers in the slums.

when it comes to the harder encounters, i believe it's based on the main character's XP and they are:
    less than 1 000 000
    1 000 000 - 1 999 999
    2 000 000 +
    that determines your "harder" encounters

when it comes to joinable NPC XP, the formula goes by every 250 000 mark of your main character

so for example: if your XP is 255 000 then any companion that joins your team will be bumped up to 250 000, if your XP is 499 000 then your companions will be set to 250 000, but if you hit that 500 000 mark, then they will be at 500 000

this goes all the way to 1 250 000 ( i believe ) and the "XP catch up" only happens once,

so if you had someone join your team when you had the 255 000 XP they will get boosted to 250 000, but then if you drop them and come back when you are at 1 000 000 XP they will still be at 250 000
