With out knowing for sure I would hazard a guess of no. I could be very wrong, but I have the feeling that PLT textures will not support it. I hope I am wrong
I think they looking at ways to support both. I pretty sure they getting the engine to do a search for either normal map first and then if that not found the engine will look for a ptl map of the same name or ptl first then normal. You have the same issue with just NPC model with their custom DDS/tga files support. So looks like a double lookup to support forward file formats and supporting legacy. I hope that does not cause a resource hit.
