How do I utilize the druid's hide skills?

With a thief, it's easy to understand because I can get a natural boost to backstabbing. But is there a point to hide when I'm a druid?

Can someone explain this to me?

Does the druid obtain any benefit to hiding, or is this just for a way to scout areas?

I believe you posted in the wrong place. Planescape:Torment doesn't have druids.

I know in DDO Druids got sneak bonus damage, but I think that is 3.5 rules. I think it is just for scouting, though somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I assume he means rangers, who do have stealth even though they aren't in PST? The answer is no, you don't receive a damage boost from stealth if you are a ranger. But you do still benefit from stealth if you're using melee weapons as you can enter melee range undetected, whereas without stealth you could be hit by arrows/spells while running up to an enemy.

Oops! Yup, I accidentally posted in the wrong place. I could have sworn I thought it was the NWN forum.

Hey there . Aside from the obvious (*to hide*) you wish to know how , as a combat tactic, druids can benefit from hide bonus?

    I've got some suggestions:
    (1) to have your henchman or summon take the lead - enemies will attack your ally instead of you, so you can attack far from the frontlines and cast spells.
    (2) to take the first shot - no backstabs but taking the first shot is Always useful.
    (3) to scout - depending on the difficulty of the module you're playing , being able to scout is quite helpful
    (4) to multiclass to thief of assassin and take advantage of your trackless step!

I believe you still get an attack bonus (or some equivalent) to your first attack leaving stealth. So it's something. Not much, though.

Well, you won't be attacked as long as you're not detected? Rogues don't need to use stealth any more than you do however, they just need a "flank" to get sneak attacks.

However they can only get flank if the opponent is focused elsewhere, e.g. being attacked by something else, and if you do a bunch of damage that focus shifts and you lose your flanking - which is why HiPS is so useful to them.

Back to the OP, the Wiki has this to say, and this may be the root of your question:

Druid levels can be a good fit for a stealthy build, even though they get neither hide nor move silently as class skills. Their trackless step feat (druid level 3) gives a +4 bonus to stealth skills in wilderness areas, and the following spells also enhance these skills (in all areas, not just wilderness): camouflage gives +10 to hide (druid level 1), one with the land gives +4 to hide and move silently (druid level 3), and mass camouflage gives +10 to hide (druid level 7).

However, you will note that this only gives you a maximum of +8 to Move Silently and Druids do not have these as class skills. Therefore to be a decent sneaker you will have to cross class.
