MetaMagic and Shifters (rakasha)

Hi,
Has Beamdog disabled the metamagic use of e.g. maximized ice storms while i Rakshasa form? I've been trying it out for the last few hours but keep getting the same message "no uses or preparations left for that spell", and no, i dont have any items that give additional spell slots (all available 8th lvl spells as druid are maxed icestorms and they are quickslotted).
The only thing in the patch notes i can find that remotely adress this is; "Metamagic slots are now properly removed, if the metamagic feat is lost". However, I'd assume that would mean feats given from items rather than actual shifting.
Would appreciate some input.
