Quick idea: Update instances -y

fot1fot1 Member Posts: 74
Sometimes you just know you want to update all instances of a modified resource in every area of your module, and don't care to leave the toolset opening all areas and updating it for you while you take a cup of coffee. But currently, you need to select the instances manually for every area it has found. Would be great if we had it automatically all selected and updated.

Two possible interfaces for this:
1) New action when right-clicking the resource, "Force update instances"
2) New button on the confirmation screen, "update all and don't ask me again"

Actually I was not familiar to this project, thanks for pointing that! Anyway, this feature is a one day development effort and having to run some scripts from outside of the toolset is not optimal, thus I would still consider the idea.

What you're asking for, or at least what I understand you're asking for, is already possible without any external software. Right-click on the object you want to update in the palette, then do this:
    1. Click on Update Instances
    2. Click Yes (Answer YES to update ALL areas)
    3. Click Yes or No [This step only shows if you're updating an item and asks if you want to look in containers, or just for items placed in the areas themselves. If not an item, skip to last step]
    4. Click No (Answering NO will automatically update every instance without asking for confirmation)
