Question about pre-load on a different computer than the one I am going to use to play the game.

Ok, sorry if this has been discussed or answered earlier, couldnt find any in my brief search.

Here goes: Can I pre-load BGEE on the computer at my university and transfer the file (with my USB file storage) to my computer at home, which will be the actual computer I am going to play on. The reason I want to do this is that my internet connection at home is crappy and goes on and off all the time.

Thanks for any enlightenment =)

I don't know for sure, but I think that's possible, as the game only needs verification twice - when you download the installer, and when you install it.

    BUT:
I read in one of the other threads here today, that you'll need to download another 500MB on release day to get it working. Probably an insurance against people trying to crack it and play before release day.

But 500MB is better than 1.3GB which is what the size is of the installer at the moment.

But will the verification be connected with the IP or is it simply connected with identifying you to give access to the download?

you should be able to install it on any number of computers. But the client can only be running on one machine at a time. So if you install on another machine... it will holler at you and say you must sign out of the other one or somesuch.

    I actually don't think that'll will happen...
There was a thread somewhere that stated that you were allowed to install it on several computers, the verification is not on the individual pc, but on your account with Beamdog.

@Bytebrain That is true, but not what I am saying. You cannot play MP with yourself:P in order to update a second computer you need to sign out of the first computer. Doesnt mean that both comps cant play it. But the installer can only run on one machine at a time with the same license. Guess I wasnt clear. The thing does holler at you.. seen it.

    I stand corrected. :-)
