*Spoilers?* Watchers Keep compass room

I'm in the compass room in Watchers Keep. I already have the journal that tells you how to move through to the next level if I wanted to. However, I am wondering (other than yakyaks room where I found the journal) If there were any hidden rooms with hidden treasure if I go off the path. I'm greedy and want to grab everything I can get my grubby hands on. Is there any reason to go off the path and explore other than experience?

If you follow the journal, you encounter every room I'm sure.

(I've just had to cheat my way out of that bloody maze, literally 5 minutes ago. For some reason have the "SCS randomise maze" installed and I can't get rid of it. Just one thing to remind you, pick up all the gems for the scepter, that was my undoing.)

You seriously don't want to get lost, you have no idea how many times I have entered and exited the various rooms.

one of the rooms has the purifier in it ( it's inside a rock, you have to be lawful good to get it, and you have to be a paladin to use it, or someone who has UAI ) also if you help one of the demon groups out, they will give you a thief's hood then you can upgrade with cespenar, but other than that just magical items and XP

I would seriously advise against going 'off piste' here. I once forgot one of the sceptre gems and tried to backtrack to it - to the best of my knowledge that charname is still wandering around the maze.

With a normal installation, I would advise to just follow the journal.

A nice solution to potentially getting lost in the randomized SCS version of the maze (if you don't like making maps) is to do WK level 3 in ToB, after you've left Saradush but before dealing with Yaga-Shura. At this point, there's always the option of returning to the pocket plane and getting teleported to the North Forest, so you can escape and try again with a different path.

Oh I made a map, kept the map, got the map out for this playthrough.

Then figured out what "randomised" meant in this instance. :'(

I just assumed it meant "buggered up one time only so you can't use the journal".
