Is it possible to alter attribute-stats directly via script ?

Example -->
You have done a quest for a deity, or for a priest of a deity.
As reward for your success you shall receive a direct boost of your strength, or charisma or another attribute.
Or, you have annoyed a deity with your actions, and as punishment you shall receive a curse, which directly lowers an attribute.
For example raising strength directly from 13 to 14 or lower strength from 13 to 12.
Is it possible to directly raise and lower attributes (strength, intelligence, charisma etc.) via NWN-scripting / scripts ?
(Without using things like spells or diseases to achieve this kind of effect.)
