How long do you spend clicking "Reroll" when making a new Character?

Just curious about how long the other BG players spend rerolling their stats when making a character.

I think I usually spend about 10-20 minutes, but have spent up to an hour or more once.

Sometimes hours. Often I'll have the TV running or be chatting with friends so clicking the reroll button isn't much of a chore.

    Max 10 times, usually

Depends on how lucky I am. :P

@tilly You can leave points unspent if you want lower stats.

Depends. For my "MAIN" solo I'll probably spend two+ hours getting rolls I want to get, but for my multiplayer with friends will be first roll, accepted stats.

I start with whatever I get on the first roll. Of course I redistribute stats though.
  • I spend as long as it takes. My main character is a Paladin, making use of almost every stat, so it usually takes me a while.

I used to reroll for high stats but recently have found myself just taking the default first roll. We're already cheating enough by getting to pick a class first, then having stats automatically assigned that meet those requirements.

Accepting the default roll, I believe, adds a new challenges to the game as it's already easy enough. Having a character with awesome stats just isn't as fun for me as it was when younger. I have a different appreciation for the game now and character stats are very low on that list.

I've challenged myself enough (solo runs and stuff) that I don't feel guilty for having high stats. Accepting the default roll can be an interesting challenge, sure, but it's no fun going through a world where all the NPCs have better stats than you, at least in my opinion.

That said, it usually only takes me a minute or two to get stats that I like. Maybe a bit longer if I'm playing a fighter class due to 18/XX

    As long as it takes.

Usually takes less than 10 minutes. I have it down to a science; for each reroll reduce all values to 10 and see what you're left with. I can usually spot a good roll and reduce them down to be left with 25+. That gives you three attributes that can be brought up to 18 with some to spare :)

    5-10 rolls max

A shamefully long time. I really can't help myself. It is borderline compulsive behavior

Last time I started BG, I got a really good roll on second try and went with it. Usually, it's more like five to ten minutes, though.

    Probably 5 minutes.

Several minutes. Maybe 3? Probably not much more than that. If it's proving that difficult to get a roll I can live with, I'll Crtl+8 and pare down.

I do what eyeofthegoat does. It's easy to get 25+, but I usually shoot for 29 or 30 if I can.

WAY too long. I can have a character in mind for months and get a few hours here and there to play. Yet when I do I simply select my custom portrait for my character and click reroll for far too long. Need to actually PLAY my dwarven cleric, darnit! :)

I usually think of the stats I am aiming for to create a balanced but not overpowered character, something that seems reasonable then. I allow for a range around those stats and accept what ever fits.

I've never taken more than a couple of minutes. I just dont have the patience or the desire to spend any longer than that clicking the same buttton over and over

I'm leaning this way also. I made a Paladin in BG2, and the escape was an easy romp with an 18 str 18 con 12 dex character.

Same. Basically shooting for a 90+ total if you add all the scores. I can usually get a 91 or 92 within the first 15-20 rolls, but that because I usually play a class that has minimums in 2-3 stats so they start higher to begin with. Rangers, Paladins and Bards are all easy to get high rolls, as are some of the specialist mages.

I set a minimum score to get and a maximum score I stop when I hit it. Usually happens in less than 5 minutes.
