Adding more races?

I just want to say now that I don't know how modding works, I don't know the limitations of modding and I don't know the process... That said, I was just wondering if it would be possible to add races to the EE games, I'm thinking like, maybe if someone created rules for a gnoll or something and then used the gnoll graphics to represent that character in-game.

even if this is possible, it would probably only work for IWDEE because in BGEE1/2 it would be much harder to implement due to all the PC interactions.

Like the Indy 500, especially 2013! Man, that was a great race.

I've ALWAYS wanted this myself, but there are some limitations:

    1. Not every creature class would have an available paperdoll. I believe only the ones that spellcasters can shapeshift into, like flinds and some spiders, would have paperdolls.
    2. There could be problems equipping creatures with certain weapons and armor, as they sometimes include certain items as part of their animation and paperdolls (i.e.: minotaurs always carry axes, flinds/gnolls always carry halberds, etc.).
    3. There could be movement issues - some creatures move at a noticeably slower pace than the playable races, some might be too big to fit through doorways, etc.

Having said all that though, IF there were any way to allow even some creatures to be playable in IWD:EE, I would absolutely love that!

Perhaps if a creature race were made playable, there would need to be some tweaking done, and some restrictions. For example, a flind might need to be permanently hasted, much like the one that lawful evil familiars can shapeshift into, and restricted to using only halberds to accommodate the animation.

All the above limitations can be modded, though animations are very time consuming. I wanted a dwarf with a long beard, so made the animation for it. If you had to choose one race? What would be the best/ funniest?

I've always wanted to play as a (hasted) flind, basically like the one that can be shapeshifted into.

So if you played a Flind in iwd, how exactly would you want it implemented? Any backstory to make it fit, without changing the whole game? What about a Flind druid kit, who can shapeshift into a human druid...and if humans see him in his true Flind form they attack him? Or just simply set his reputation incredible low and play as normal? Happy with only able to use Halberds, or want more... Quarterstaff animation would be pretty easy...just take the head off the quarterstaff.
I was thinking it would be fun to play as a goblin, there's some great sprites in iwd and from the sod NPC. Also there's a goblin mounted on a wolf.. could potentially have a mount to ride :D

I would like to see additional optional races myself....been wanting a Kitsune specialist mage for a while now....tiefling and aasimar would also be nice...maybe Siren and Succubi as well....

I think AionZ is planning tiefling and fey’ri npc companions as part of The New Light project - see the second page of the thread

Just looked....those will be a nice addition to the game as I do miss the party banters and such. Wish the Fey'ri was good or neutral aligned but ah well.....I just don't feel right with evil party members...too much of a do the right thing mentality with the exception of kleptomania pretty much taking anything not nailed down. It will be nice to take a look at the special abilities though and try and find a way to change the protagonist's race with EEKeeper if all else fails and add the appropriate abilities.
