How To Lower Lag

I'm stuck playing via wifi on a laptop with an integrated intel processor.

I want to play online on a PW but usually as soon as I encounter multiple hostiles the screen freezes, none of my buttons work, and then after a bit it unfreezes, speeds back up and I often find I am dead.

What are some settings I can lower to improve performance and reduce lag?

    I'm on a low-end desktop with integrated graphics, so not quite the same thing, but the solution that has helped the most for me is dialing down the Resolution and UI scaling. Mine is currently set to 1360x768 60 hz. Still somewhat laggy, but playable and not terrible to look at. I'm considering dialing it down another notch or two.
