Standalone installer worked fine until today's additional 500mb download, now it crashes

Windows 7 64-bit home edition.

Initially, it asked me if I wanted to update the launcher, and I said yes. Then, Windows said the application stopped working. Now when I run it, it never opens and just says it stopped working.

    I'd try to uninstall the launcher, download the installer again and reinstall it. The installer should then already be up-to-date and hopefully working.
