Is there any point in holding on to gems and jewelry?

Hello, forumers!
I know, that there are couple of cases where you need to hold on to some of your common jewelry in BG1 for questing reasons. Are there similar situations in SoD? Cause my hands are itching to sell them of.

There might be some advantage in carrying more expensive gems and jewellery in your inventory, for instance if you happened to lose all your gold on one occasion. Possibly. Just sayin'...

If this possibility is prior to main events of SoD, I am well past it, but thanks nevertheless. Or is it?

I know of nothing in SoD past the intro that takes all of your gold.

I keep a little extra in the way of jewelry when playing chaos sorcerers or wild mages, just in case a surge strips gold.
