Installer offline?

The installer we are downloading now, is an offline installer or we must be connected to use it?

I see there are no DRM in BGEE (and thousands of thanks for it, with DRM I will not buy) so I think an online installer does not make sense.

Thanks for answer. :)

    There is a very light drm, meaning that after you download the game, the Installer will do one time online verification and after that you can go offline, you will need to go online again only if you want to download updates (naturally), but you dont have to if you dont want to update.

    so if I want to play on a notebook, in lan with a friend, I have to reinstall it online?

    @pepppe You can simply copy the files over to your notebook. But as far as I know you'll have to login at least once with the installer on that notebook to activate the copy.

    You have to confirm ownership once with each new install.
    Also, if you're playing multiplayer, you both need your own account and purchased copy. You can't buy it once, and use that one copy to play multiplayer on multiple computers.

    mmm so there are DRM.

    So in the distant future, if server shut down, we are no longer able to play BGEE.

    Trent Oster has said that if that possibility ever occurs that they will release a patch which will remove that requirement.

    If we ever go out of business we will patch the game and remove all DRM. From there you could copy it wherever you want.

    @pepppe

    I hope it worked out for you, I got also "getting download info" for sometime but than it connected and downloaded, anyway if you still have problems:

    For those of you stuck at "Getting download info..."

    Because of the high volume of traffic, Beamdog.com started handing out '503' errors, which means that the server was too busy to respond to your request. As such, the installer was having difficulty downloading some necessary files from our site. The 503 errors should be largely gone now, so please exit your client and restart it. It may take some time to connect, so please be patient.

    If you are still stuck later on, let us know. We're still looking into the issue to see if some people are stuck in different ways.

    If you have a different issue, or if your issue persists after waiting for awhile, please contact support@beamdog.com
