Custom class kits and SCS

Bearing in mind that I know nothing about modding Baldur's Gate and only a little about coding in general, I assume that even if one applied custom class kits with new abilities (such as psionics in Might and Guile) to enemies in general, then the SCS AI improvements would end up totally borked. Actually, even the regular AI would probably have no idea what to do. Is this correct? Because I really want to play an interesting thief but I also don't want to be able to do things that enemies are totally incapable of (I'm ignoring Bhaalspawn powers here lol).
