Unable to activate preloaded BG

I purchased BG:EE this past weekend and I was able to preload it on my system with no difficulty. I used both methods to preload that were available to me (both the standalone installer and the Beamdog client).

A few moments ago, I attempted to launch the game with the BG installer, but I was unable to (the installer asked me to 'Please wait...' while it downloaded an update, but as far as I could tell, there was no progress).

I then tried using the BD client to enable the game. I was again asked to download an update, which I attempted, but the client then informed me that I have limited connectivity; I do not think that is accurate because my Steam client is working well, I am able to access this forum from the same PC and YouTube seems to be functioning just fine.

I am sure this is just a matter of opening day jitters, but does anyone have an explanation/solution/timetable?

Thanks in advance.

The game isn't released until sometime tomorrow. You won't be able to play until tomorrow sometime when it unlocks for everybody.

You'll need an additional 500MB in your pre-download, just leave the client open, and it'll probably start download sometime today.
Connectivity problems is likely on their end, not yours, they have a lot of customers downloading at once, so their servers maybe swamped.

Thank you Bytebrain. I am patient :). I know what it is like when you are starting a new venture and all the little gremlins come out of the woodwork :).

To be complete, my Speedtest download speed is 22.77 Mbps and my upload speed is 2.10 Mbps.

Using the stand-alone installer, if your pre-load has properly compelted, it will say "pre-load Complete". If you are not getting that message than something is wrong.

If you are still having problems, close the installer. Download the updated v2.4 BGEEInstaller.exe manually (from Phils thread), and run that. Exit out, go into your installation directory\data folder, then delete 766.BEAM and 766.STATUS, and restart the client. It will force the client to check for updates.

I'm defragging my hard drive right now, but I will try that (right after I find Phil's thread :) ).

    Thanks.

    @Flagyl
How large is the folder containing all the BGEE info, it should be around the 1.8Gb mark.

The size of the file in this pathway 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition' is 1.33 GB.

    Thanks for the link BigdogChris.

I am an idiot. I thought the game was supposed to be made available to play yesterday (most games being released on Tuesday). :).

Nonetheless, I thank everyone who helped me out in the thread.

    Can't wait to play.
