Do the effects of Tomes/Manuals on NPCs carry over to SoD

Off Subject It has taken me an unbelievably long time to get round to playing SoD - I've had to wait till I've been well enough for a long enough stretch to actually reach the end of BGEE, and still remember how to drive my PC. Anyhow, that's not really the point of this post.

Back On Subject I often use the manuals on NPCs rather than my PC. Does this mean the ability score changes carry over to SoD? For example, say I use all 3 Tomes of Undersanding on Jaheira, and raise her wisdom to 17. When I pick her up in SoD will her Wisdom be 17, or does it revert back to 14?

If you import your BGEE game (using import game) when starting SoD then Jaheira will have 17 in wisdom; along with everything else, inventory, gear, HP, etc.

If I recall Jaheira gets upgraded to her bg2 stats anyway, so I'm not sure whether that would override any changes you made with the tomes. In general though the changes are retained. In safana's case you can even use it to dual her to mage.
