Bug in black pits?

I am playing black pits with a prty of six. I want to dual a kensai 9th level, (so 250,000 xp) to a mage. My problem (and possible bug?) is that he isnt getting a single xp as a mage after dualling him. I have also dualled a berserker (9th level also) into a cleric and he is getting xp with no problems. Is this a bug or not? Thank you

Short version: Level cap for mage is 250k. Level cap for cleric is 450k. Dual class uses level cap (combined) from the second class. Fighter(9)/Cleric can reach 200k exp (8lvl) as a cleric.

So this is not a bug.
