IWD:EE 2.5.17 spell book bug? Written descriptions gone?

OK..so my excitement at installing the 2.5.17 update has been tempered by the fact that I'm no longer able to see descriptions of spells in my mage- and cleric books and scrolls. Hovering over (or right clicking) the spell icon brings the name up, but any further interaction causes this to disappear. In 1.4.x right clicking the spell icons brought written, detailed descriptions up. Am I doing something wrong?

Playing on macOS Sierra 10.12.5.

Update: After pressing a bunch of keys at random I find that Ctrl-Alt-click brings the descriptions up. Which is somewhat unintuitive, but at least they're still there.
