Is it possible to remove the XP cap and go beyond level 40?

    No. Some servers fake it by either giving you additional powers after level 40 (but your character is still technically level 40). Some others fake it by delevelling you back to 1 or something when you reach 40, but let you keep all your stats as they were. But you cannot make the game go over level 40 for players, it's built into the core of the engine in many places.
