Genie bug

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I'm experiencing the bug where the Genie in the air area of Irenicus's dungeon doesn't appear, the sounds effects play but then nothing happens.

Is there a workaround for this?

    Nope. It happened to me before. What happens is that genie has spawned somewhere. I just could be anywhere in the game. I've seen one person post a screenshot where it welcomed them to the Underdark.

    You have 2 choices.
    1. Keep playing run into it when you run into it.
    2. Start a new game. In my experience reloading doesn't work as it will happen everytime on that save.

    when that happens to me, he's usually in the hallway leading to the duergars so I can't miss it regardless
