Standalone Downloader Crashes at "Checking Files"

I've installed and Preloaded BGEE about a week ago, everything was dandy.

I ran the standalone client a few days ago (impatient me), it asked to updtae the dowloader, which I did.

Ever since then, it crashes at "Checking Files". Uninstalling. re-downloading and re-installing the launcher did not help.

I've not yet tried to locate and remove the downloaded files - but I hope I don't have to redownload.

HALP!!!
