Siege of Dragonspear -Weird bug

Hi all, hope someone can help

I have just bought Siege of Dragonspear but cannot progress. I've imported my BG1 character, done the first few rooms but then I get to some stairs. I click them to go up, new map loads, mage casts a spell automatically (looks like stoneskin) then whole party just stands there. Interface is gone, keyboard does nothing and they just stand there until I close the game down with task manager. Can't even bring up the game menu.

Is this a known / common problem?

Edit: SOrry should of said, its on the PC version through the Beamdog client, added save file

    Ignore this ... in my total and utter stupidity I was going up the stairs I had come down the last time I played :(
