Character Selection/Action Feedback settings in the options menu appear to change nothing at all

I might be wrong on this, but the feedback settings in the options menu is supposed to change what kind of information gets printed out to the UI box on the bottom of the screen. For example, unchecking "Selection Text" will make it so that the sounds my characters make when being selected do not appear in that box.
Unfortunately, these options appear to be broken, as changing them doesn't do anything. I've checked and unchecked selection text about 10 times now and it still appears down there. I don't know why this was enabled by default, as that is completly useless and clutters up what is otherwise an important menu with pointless dialogue that I don't need to look down and see unless I am deaf (no disrespect intended for those of the hearing impaired, but I mean come on.) I wouldn't mind if those buttons actually worked, but they seem not to. Not a huge deal I guess, but troublesome all the same.
EDIT: The other options do work. I have no idea why those two do nothing however, and this is kinda annoying.
Specs:
OS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU - T6600 @ 2.20 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB RAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M

In the .ini I see a heading that might correspond, if it's just not updating the .ini properly when you change the in-game options: 'Game Options', 'Effect Text Level', '27',
However, 27 indicates that it's adding up a set value for each text display option and using the total to determine the list of enabled options, unless I knew what value was being used for each option and could do the arithmetic myself it'd be lots of trial and error to see about a workaround. This also assumes that the .ini setting being incorrect is the problem, it the game isn't properly implementing what's found in the .ini we're still out of luck..
You should also disable Subtitles under Sound settings, this seems to make those messages go away. All other combat feedback and dialogue still seems to work, so I'm not sure what the character selection text option under feedback was for..
The other buttons seem to work as intended however. Maybe you should rename the thread to "Character Selection Text button does nothing"?
Feedback selection text does not work correctly, and disabling subtitles under sound setting does not fix this bug.
Disabling the subtitles for character sounds does remove all unnecesary dialogue from that area. I guess that's the option I had been looking for, but that doesn't explain why those buttons under Feedback do nothing when they sounded like they would fix the problem.
And while we're on the subject of the options menu, who else found the "Graphics Settings" menu hilarious the first time they opened it? A fullscreen toggle? Something I can already do with my keyboard and that's it?? An entire menu for that. Just priceless.
I've already reported it to the developers.
Those are outdated and removed.
The devs expected there will be new hacks workarounds.
The hardware cursor is already there.
About the character selection text - it works for me.
Setting never - removes all selection feedback (does not remove command feedback)
Setting always - they always say something when clicked on portrait
Setting seldom - they rarely say something.
The subtitles also work for me.
So this problem was fixed in a patch or was never really a problem
