Gnomes Max Wisdom incorrectly set to 16, should be 17

When I create a Gnome (any class/sex) my max wisdom is 16, when I am sure it should be 17.
+1 intelligence -1 Wisdom would leave scores of 19 max Int and 17 max Wis.
Can anyone verify it is not just me and if I am wrong please let me know.

I noticed this too. And it's not like the dwarven CHA malus where the racial max is 17 which then has the penalty applied. Gnomes have a racial max of 18. 18-1 = 17.

    So in short.

[BUG] Gnomes are having a -2 penalty applied to their Wisdom score upon creation.

[EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR] To only have a -1 penalty applied upon creation

Gnomes should have a racial adjustment of -1 Wisdom, but the max I can get is only 16

Had this same error, Gnome has a max of 16 Wisdom at character creation.

    I thought this was normal?

    I thought this was normal?

How does a -1 Wisdom racial penalty translating into a max value of 16 make any sense when the normal max value is 18?

    18 - 1 =/= 16

    Do the math...

Unless this means the penalty is now two. Hopefully that translates to a intelligence bonus of two?

    That'd be sweet. :)

Judging from their own pdf manuals, it is supposed to be -1. I guess I won't roll my gnome tonight, just to be sure.

The description for gnomes state that they get +1 intelligence and -1 wisdom. Doesn't this mean that the maximum wisdom score for a gnome should be 17? During character creation I can only put up to 16 points into wisdom. Has anyone else experienced this?

Behavior: Gnomes cannot be created with a wisdom higher than 16.

Expected Behavior: For gnomes to only have a -1 to wisdom(max 17) as is stated in both the original and new baldur's gate manuals.

OS: This bug was verified on both windows xp and windows 7.

Yes, having the same issue. Might have to pick another race... Gnomes are already under represented. Please fix, shouldnt be too hard.

If you are desperate to play a gnome you can always CLUA your extra point of wisdom or even Shadowkeeper them.

For the record, gnomes may be unrepresented but mechanically in BG they are one of the strongest races.

Bumping this. I know it won't be a priority with all the present issues, but still, it's a technicality that should be addressed!

Yeah. The bgee manual even states that it's only minus one. Should I wait to play a cleric/illusionist? I'm 100% positive that I made 17 wisdom illusionist/clerics in both bg1 and bg2.

The wisdom for gnomes should be 17. That is both the case in the 2nd edition PnP charts (adjusted for race) and in the original Baldur's Gate.

I bumped my illusionist/cleric's wisdom to 17 using shadowkeeper. The instructions that I used to get shadowkeeper running can be found in the link below.

Will be fixed for the next patch.

This can be moved to the fixed list - gnomes can now attain 17 Wisdom upon creation.
