Happens to me too. I'm currently in Candlekeep.
Either using a hotkey or the map button and then tying to type causes the crash.
Very frustrating as I really need to make map notes.
    English version.

    EDIT: FIXED!!
I have found that by clicking the ENTER key just once to move the red insert cursor down one space in the typing area and then typing a description no longer causes the game to crash.
I suspect that the map markers were designed for the original games resolution and was not modified for higher resolutions.

    Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Processor: Intel dual core E8500 @ 3.16 GHz
    Memory: 4.00 GB RAM
    GPU: ATI HD6870

The game almost always crashes when I try to edit notes on the map. WIndows 8 Pro. ATI 6950 with 2 gigabyte. It's very annoying unfortunately. Anyone else got this?

    (Edited by another person? What?)

    Hi all,

Not sure if this is repported yet, but when I try to make a custom note on the map, the game freezes and stops working (windows message) when I start typing.

Right Clicking on Map Markers is an Immediate CTD (Crash to Desktop). Don't do it.

    Running Win7 64Pro.

    Hello there.

I also encountered this - the game freezes with the first key typed in the custom note window.

Crash when adding a custom map note (tested in Beregost). Crashes every time.

The title says everything. I was trying to place a mark to remind me that i would need to go back there to open some furniture with lockpick but i found its impossible, the game crashes!

Anyone else having the same problem?

Whenever I try to create a note on the map (by right clicking), my game crashes as soon as I try to type a description for the note.
  • Hi just reporting I have the same bug - whenever I try to create a note (specifically when I attempt to type the same) the game crashes

I found that if I load up a game and don't move at all before making the note it'll go through, but that's a really silly workaround that is really troublesome when you find something of interest that isn't visible when you first go to the area.

Adding points of interest on the map crashes the game.
  • Exact same thing happens to me, placing markers crashes the game. Hope it gets fixed, I haven't played BG in a while, but I remember using them alot.
